When I Grow Up
It was a beautiful day in Gretton. More than anything else in the world, Jayne Ann Charlton, aged six, wanted to be outside playing with Carol, William and David. But today was a school day, and Jayne was in her schoolroom.
“Today, I'd like you to write a report on what you want to be when you grow up,” the teacher told the class. “Perhaps some of you will want to become a teacher just like me.”
Jayne chewed on her pencil as she thought about all the different careers to choose from.
“I love music. It might be fun to play the piano or be a dancer when I grow up,” thought Jayne. “It would be great to perform on a stage in front of an audience. Or maybe I could be a painter and work from my own studio.”
